Guide To Padel

30-Years Experience creating courts around the world

According to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) there were more than 400,000 adults and juniors playing padel in Great Britain at the end last year – compared to 129,000 at the end of 2023.

There were 893 padel courts across 300 venues in May 2025 – with the LTA investing more than £6 million in the sports growth.

More and more tennis clubs are turning unused tennis courts into thriving padel courts – with one tennis court roughly occupying the same space as three padel courts.

Padel Specialists Ltd have worked with many tennis clubs and sports associations to maximise those wasted tennis courts into stunning padel venues.

The LTA have a range of information on it’s website for tennis clubs interested in exploring this opportunity – and Padel Specialists UK are LTA funded project approved.

Padel Construction

So where do you start when creating a padel court?

Padel Specialists Ltd are proud members of SAPCA, the Sports and Play Contractors Association.

They have created a brilliant guide for people interested in building page courts.

Some general considerations include:

  • Measure you site to make sure a padel court fits.
  • The playing area of a court is 20m x 10m wide. You should remember to consider space outside of the court to allow players space to play from.
  • The court is building a 400mm wide surface ring beam for the court enclosure - and there should be a 1.5m gap between courts for those planning multiple courts.
  • Courts need rebound ends with fencing the up to 4m - the first 3m can be made of transparent or solid materials that do not affect the ball's bounce.
  • The top 1m is made of 50mm x 50mm mesh - which needs to be perfectly aligned to the glass.
  • Glass should be 12mm toughened glass for outdoor courts, it can be reduced to 10mm for indoor.
  • There should be a 8m x 2m opening on the sides of the court at the net for access.
